Job summary

MorningStar Senior Living in West San Jose is seeking a part-time Dining Room Server to provide high-quality meals and a gracious environment for our residents. You will take orders, relay them to kitchen staff, and deliver exceptional service with attention to resident needs.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, knowing daily specials, and upholding core values. Prior experience in dietary or hospitality is a plus, and English communication is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Previous experience in the dietary department of a health care facility or restaurant preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of ADA, state regulations, infection control, health department and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Be present in dining room for full meal service.
• Assist special functions as scheduled.
• Maintain high cleanliness, hygiene, and a sanitary environment.
• Oversee bistro areas – food presentation, cleanliness, stock, beverages.
• Know the specials of the day and how they are prepared and presented.
• Learn individual resident names, dietary needs, requests, likes and dislikes.
• Serve hot food hot and cold food cold.
• Participate in Quality Assurance Committee as directed.
• Sanitize tables and chairs, reset tables, vacuum floor after each meal.
• Attend trainings, orientation, and mandatory meetings.
• Demonstrate core values: Love, Kindness, Honesty, Goodness, Fairness, Respect.
• Experience in dietary department of health care facility or restaurant preferred.
• English literacy required.
