Job summary

The Quarters at Des Peres is seeking a compassionate Dietary Cook on a PRN basis to support our senior living community. You will determine meal quantities, review menus, and assist in inventory while ensuring safety and quality in food preparation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of experience in dietary cook or related role preferred.
• Must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.

Responsibilities

• Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and are timely.
• Determine the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit order to Dietary supervisor.
• Assist in establishment and maintenance of perpetual supplies inventory, and notify Dietary supervisor of shortages or discrepancies.
• Consult with Dietary supervisor regarding use of left-overs, stores, and labels accordingly.
• Consult registered dietitian on modified diets.
• Supervise dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food.
• Assist in training, orientation, and supervision of newly hired dietary staff.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
• Cook meat, fish, and fowl in various methods and carve into servings according to menu and dietary orders.
• Test food temperatures.
• Prepare special nourishment and supplements as instructed by Dietary supervisor, with resident name and room number.
• Observe infection prevention and control practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
• Perform all aspects of resident care to ensure safety and reduce health care errors.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or GED
