Job summary

St. Francis Healthcare Center is seeking a part-time Dietary Cook to join our dietary team in Hayward, CA. You will prepare meals per approved menus, follow residents' dietary requirements, and ensure food is served safely and at the right temperature.

The role emphasizes high-quality food, teamwork with dietary and clinical staff, and maintaining a clean, compliant kitchen environment. Prior healthcare cooking experience and Food Handler certification are preferred.

• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe handling practices.
• Ability to follow menus, recipes, and dietary instructions.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional with residents and staff.
• Good communication with residents, families, and dietary staff.
• Food Handler's certification as required by regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and recipes.
• Follow prescribed diets and special dietary requirements.
• Prepare meals in appropriate quantities and serve at proper temperatures.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and freshness.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Store, label, and rotate food and supplies properly.
• Monitor inventory and communicate needs to the Dietary Supervisor.
• Keep kitchen clean and organized; operate equipment safely.
• Assist with meal service and other dietary duties as needed.
• Collaborate with dietary staff and other departments to serve residents well.
