Job summary

Eastern Health Group in Virginia Beach is seeking a dietary aide to assist in food preparation and serving, while maintaining clean and sanitary kitchen and dining areas under the supervision of the Dietary Director.

You will support meal trays, assist with menu and diet preferences, and help deliver meals to residents. The position requires a HS diploma or GED and good communication skills; experience in healthcare food service is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
• Experience in hospital or long-term care facility dietary department preferred.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work as part of a team.
• Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with prioritization and productivity.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Meet physical and sensory requirements and work in the described environment.
• Identify and participate in process improvements to enhance customer experience and workflow.
• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
• Assist in checking trays for menu and diet preferences and accuracy.
• Set up trays and deliver meals to residents.
• Prepare serving line with cold foods and condiments per menus and instructions.
• Work on central tray service with general and modified diets as directed.
• Deliver loaded food carts to corridors and return unloaded carts to dish area.
• Collect soiled trays and utensils and transport to dish washing.
• Wash dishes, clean equipment, wipe dining areas, and mop floors as assigned.
• Stock and store food items; assist in inventorying incoming foods and supplies.
• Report hazardous conditions or incidents as necessary.
