Job summary

Community Health Partnership of Illinois (CHP) in Kankakee is seeking a compassionate Dental Assistant to join our dental team, working closely with the dentist and clinical staff to provide welcoming, high-quality care to patients from diverse backgrounds.

You will prepare treatment rooms, assist with exams and X-rays, sterilize instruments, take impressions, educate patients on oral hygiene, and maintain confidential records. Compensation ranges from $18 to $21 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• Dental assisting experience or completion of a dental assisting program.
• Familiarity with dental instruments, infection-control practices, and sterilization procedures.
• Dental X-ray qualification/certification preferred.
• Strong communication and patient-service skills.
• Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance during dental examinations and procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care
• Assist with dental X-rays in accordance with applicable requirements
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment
• Take dental impressions and assist with other laboratory procedures
• Help patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
• Support appointment scheduling and other dental office functions as needed
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and patient-ready clinical environment
