Responsibilities

• Follows the therapist's plan of care.
• Adjusts the treatment based on patient response and communicates with the evaluating therapist.
• Implements intervention plans that are patient-centered, occupation-based, and modified according to patient response.
• Demonstrates a sequential plan of treatment activities, considering the patient and family needs within the allotted time.
• Adapts activities to meet physical, cognitive, and behavioral limitations.
• Collaborates with patient, family, and significant others throughout the occupational therapy process.
• Educates patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using effective teaching methods.
• Communicates with the occupational therapist and seeks direction from the OTR.
• Produces clear, objective documentation that supports decisions and informs payers.
• Participates in activities addressing quality of service delivery.
• Communicates with patients and team members about progress; acts as a resource for conflict resolution.
• Completes annual education as assigned to comply with program requirements.
• Provides OT treatment interventions based on the plan of care and completes ROM measurements and ADL training.
• Completes ROM measurements of elbow, wrist, and hand; trains patients on dressing, cooking skills.
• Performs ultrasound and fluidotherapy treatments.
• Maintains daily documentation and billing in the EMR and communicates progress to referring providers.
