Job summary

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care under licensed supervision in a pediatric setting.

You will support the care team, participate in care planning, and help residents with daily activities and essential needs. The position requires NY CNA certification, BLS, and completion of a 100-hour CNA training program; prior experience in Medical-Surgical or Pediatrics is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires NY CNA certification and BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year experience in Medical Surgical or Pediatrics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality and safe delivery of resident care.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and reports observations.
• Assists in direct resident care per care plan and completes daily assignments.
• Maintains resident safety throughout shifts.
• Supervises residents and tracks location during shift.
• Ensures residents' appearance and hygiene.
• Supports independence in ADLs.
• Keeps environment neat, clean and organized.
• Assists with feeding per care plan and documents data.
• Reports changes in resident status to staff nurse.
• Communicates resident status during shift changes.
• Engages residents in age-appropriate socialization.
• Collaborates with therapy staff.
• Escort residents to appointments and ensure forms are completed.
• Identifies belongings to residents and environment.
• Reports faulty equipment promptly.
• Initiates admissions and guides residents to unit.
