Job summary

STGi is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide routine nursing care at The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple, TX. The CNA will follow resident assessments and care plans while working under supervision.

Responsibilities include recording entries, reporting changes, weighing residents, measuring vitals, assisting with meals and ADLs, and supporting restorative care per the care plan. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to assess patient condition, recognizes adverse signs and symptoms, and reacts swiftly in emergency situations.
• Knowledge of basic concepts of customer service related to age-specific population.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
• Knowledge of facility-specific terminology and in-depth terminology used.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records, and computer usability.
• Must be detailed oriented and able to multi-task.
• Competent to provide nursing and related services with approved competency training.

Responsibilities

• Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative manner.
• Report changes in resident condition to Charge Nurse/Supervisor promptly.
• Weigh residents according to care plan.
• Report significant weight changes per facility policies.
• Measure vital signs and document in medical records.
• Maintain clean water supplies for residents and assist with meals.
• Record food and fluid intake and report changes in eating habits.
• Assist residents with ADLs from minimal to total dependence.
• Contribute to care plan interventions and align with resident goals.
• Monitor and evaluate resident response to care interventions.
• Care for residents with mental health histories and trauma-related needs.
• Assist with exams, tests, and procedures; accompany residents to appointments.
