Job summary

Duke Primary Care is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join the Brier Creek Medicine Peds team in Durham, NC. The CMA will support clinical operations and patient care in a busy family medicine setting.

Responsibilities include clinical assistance, patient preparation, specimen collection, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred; high school or GED required.
• Level II/III require CAHEP/ABHES accreditation; high school or GED required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required at all levels; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and greet patients; update and file records.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; assist physician and nursing staff.
• Draw blood, collect specimens, and perform basic lab tests on site.
• Prepare medications and manage prescriptions under physician direction.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate admissions and lab services.
