Job summary

Duke Health's Duke Primary Care in Cary is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the pediatric care team. The CMA will support physicians and nurses in patient care, examinations, and procedures, ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities include patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, basic lab tasks, and medication preparation under physician supervision. Levels I–III education and BLS are required; certification is needed for higher levels.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred; High school or GED graduation required.
• Level II & III require certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA; BLS required.
• Levels II and III require completion of MA ladder program as specified by Duke Health.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones and schedule appointments.
• Update and file patient records and insurance forms.
• Assist in examinations and procedures; take histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for x-rays, lab tests and procedures; collect specimens.
• Prepare medications as directed and manage simple drug refills.
