Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient services. The CMA will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and physicians, performing multi-skilled activities to assist in patient examinations, document test results, and prepare treatment rooms.

The role emphasizes accurate vital signs collection, patient education, and efficient patient flow within a 40-hour work week at the MUSC Health Atlantic Cardiovascular Associates setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program is required.
• One year of patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate calibrations, cleaning and maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA.
• Maintains and reviews patient records and charts, communicates plan of care to the patient, and develops patient education materials as needed.
• Maintains exam room supplies and cleanliness of the patient care environment.
• Manages flow of patients, assists with scheduling and referrals based on urgency and availability.
• Triages patients and prepares for physician exams and procedures, assists with exams and treatments as necessary.
