Training is provided to advance to a Bus Driver, with a typical 37.5 hour work week and morning/afternoon runs. The position offers a starting wage of $21/hour, with increases to $23/hour after obtaining full CDL B with passenger or school endorsement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Passenger (P) or School (S) endorsement within the timeframe set forth by Arc Herkimer.

Responsibilities

• Safely and courteously transport passengers with special needs, along with charter and contract trips.
• Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, seatbelts, and securement systems.
• Provide support with transfers, personal care, medical needs, and safety assistance as needed.
• Follow individual service plans and agency procedures to ensure quality care.
• Complete vehicle inspections, maintain cleanliness, fuel vehicles, and report maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate passenger logs, driver records, and incident reports.
• Build positive relationships with passengers, families, and coworkers.
• Occasionally cover additional routes as needed.
