Job summary

Arc Herkimer's Transportation Department is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver II to join our team. This full-time role starts with training to become a Bus Driver, supporting passengers with disabilities to travel safely and respectfully.

Typical shifts include early morning and afternoon runs; starting pay is $21 per hour with raises to $23 after obtaining a CDL B with Passenger or School endorsement. Arc Herkimer offers tuition assistance, generous PTO, insurance, and wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to safely transport passengers with disabilities.
• Ability to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger (P) or School (S) endorsement within Arc Herkimer's timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Safely and courteously transport passengers with special needs, along with charter and contract trips.
• Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, seatbelts, and securement systems.
• Provide support with transfers, personal care, medical needs, and safety assistance as needed.
• Follow individual service plans and agency procedures to ensure quality care.
• Complete vehicle inspections, maintain cleanliness, fuel vehicles, and report maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate passenger logs, driver records, and incident reports.
• Build positive relationships with passengers, families, and coworkers.
• Occasionally cover additional routes as needed.
