Job summary

Center for Independent Living (CIL) in the Berkeley area is seeking a full-time Bilingual Accessible Transportation Driver. You will provide safe, reliable transportation for people with disabilities, ensuring language access and culturally responsive service.

The role includes driving participants to appointments, coordinating ride details, and maintaining accurate trip documentation while upholding independence and dignity.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required; fluency in spoken Spanish for participant communication.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and background/driving checks as required by policy.
• Ability to safely perform essential driving functions with or without accommodation.
• Completion of training on safely transporting people with disabilities or willingness to complete upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, reliable transportation for program participants to and from designated locations.
• Maintain door-to-door support while respecting participant independence and preferences.
• Adhere to traffic laws, safety regulations, and transportation policies.
• Assist with dispatch duties when needed, coordinating ride schedules and confirming trip details.
• Document trips, mileage, and communications accurately for program tracking.
