Job summary

Center for Elders’ Independence is seeking a Driver — Class B to provide door-through-door transportation for CEI participants, perform basic vehicle maintenance, and ensure safety during transfers. The role supports daily operations across multiple CEI sites and may involve occasional home visits.

The position requires a valid California Class B license with a passengers endorsement, a clean DMV record, and CPR/First Aid certification within two weeks of orientation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years driving experience, with 1 year transporting elderly or disabled preferred.
• Clean DMV report. Valid CA Class B driver’s license with passengers endorsement.
• Basic English proficiency; ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• First Aid/CPR certification obtained within two weeks of orientation, maintained thereafter.
• Knowledge of vehicle operation and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport participants to and from their homes, CEI sites, medical appointments, and activities.
• Provide Physical assistance and monitoring from pickup to vehicle and while getting on/off the van.
• Report any special situations to Road Supervisor and notify changes in medical condition.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and daily safety checks.
• Complete daily route sheets and paperwork promptly.
• Maintain courteous, respectful attitude towards participants and families.
• Comply with CEI policies, OSHA guidelines and safety procedures.
