Job summary

TriHealth is seeking a Bereavement Counselor to support Hospice of Cincinnati with individual, family, and group counseling for bereaved clients and community members. This role emphasizes short-term supportive grief counseling and collaboration with the patient care team to ensure smooth transitions after patient death.

The position involves collaboration with community professionals, potential travel to client homes, and engagement in the Goldstein Grief Center programming.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Chaplaincy.
• Licensure or certification: LPC/LSW/BCC.
• Knowledge of supportive counseling principles with children and adults.
• Knowledge of community resources and training in grief and loss, crisis intervention, stress reduction.
• Computer aptitude and knowledge of computerized medical records.
• 2-3 years experience in Professional Counseling, Social Work, or Chaplaincy.

Responsibilities

• Assess all bereaved clients presenting for services; develop care plans and provide ongoing support.
• Provide individual grief counseling for bereaved family members and community clients.
• Facilitate grief support groups varying in sessions and type of loss.
• Document all contacts in EMR; complete bereavement assessments and ongoing contacts.
• Develop relationships to refer bereaved clients to community professionals when issues extend beyond grief.
• Participate in grief support functions including memorial services and community presentations.
