Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in St. Louis, MO seeks a Behavioral Technician to support clients in recovery. You will assist in daily operations, monitor progress, document behaviors, and facilitate activities under the treatment team.

The role emphasizes empathetic communication, safety, and collaboration with nursing and education staff. This part-time/PRN position offers benefits through the organization and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent with two (2) years of responsible employment history.
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR MAADC I or II for St. Louis County Programs.
  • Provide evidence of being free from infectious diseases (TB) before starting employment and annually thereafter.
  • Successful completion of background checks (criminal, driving, abuse/neglect).
  • First Aid and CPR certifications within three (3) months of beginning employment.
  • Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record; at least 21 to operate company vehicles and 23 for passenger van.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to program expectations and report behaviors to supervisors for therapeutic interventions.
  • Participate in the treatment team, identifying clients' strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
  • Document and report exceptional behaviors and areas of concern during shift changes and in client records.
  • Assist in admission and orientation, including obtaining vital signs and conducting safety checks.
  • Coordinate incoming calls and respond to crisis situations as necessary.
  • Educate and assist clients in performing daily activities as needed.
  • Monitor client activities and document relevant behaviors, including bed checks during overnight shifts.
  • Ensure all clients are accounted for and that precaution protocols are followed.
  • Facilitate education or recreation groups as scheduled.
  • Adhere to medication policies and collaborate with nursing staff to ensure compliance.
  • Provide transportation for clients as needed.
  • Maintain a standard of behavior consistent with agency expectations and program philosophy.
  • Complete all mandatory trainings within required time frames.
  • Attend staff and treatment team meetings as requested.
  • Screen and monitor detoxification clients to ensure safety and recovery needs are met.
