Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification required.
• Preferred: Some college classes. Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
• Maintains education and development appropriate for position. May substitute experience for education.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under RN/LPN direction.
• Assist with personal care and comfort of psychiatric patients.
• Take vital signs, intake/output, and notify RN of changes.
• Observe patients' behavior, mental status, and activities; report changes.
• Assist with safety checks and documentation per policy.
• Assist with restraints or seclusion under RN direction and CPI techniques.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate with nursing staff.
• Perform 15-minute observation rounds and document findings.
• Assist in orientation of new staff and therapeutic groups under supervision.
• Provide general nursing care including transfers and ADLs.
