Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Amarillo is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to support licensed nurses in delivering compassionate care to adults and seniors facing anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges. You will help maintain a therapeutic milieu through routine tasks within the BHT scope and follow Oceans' policies and procedures.

In this role, you will monitor patients, assist with daily activities and communicate observations to the nursing staff, while upholding

Qualifications

• Read, write and follow verbal and written instruction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Be able to work under close supervision.
• Complete BLS and Oceans-approved de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support unit rules compliance.
• Use de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and secure contraband; perform safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and participate in required trainings.
• Assist with patient care activities, vital signs, ADL and nutrition monitoring.
• Assist with mobility, meals and personal care as needed.
• Tailor care to age-related and cultural needs of patients.
• Document patient observations and communicate findings to the nurse.
• Report task progress and patient needs to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
