Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Amarillo is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support nursing staff and provide compassionate patient care for adults and seniors facing anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. You will perform routine tasks, monitor patients, and help maintain a therapeutic environment under licensed supervision.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or at least 6 months of bedside, direct patient care experience.
• Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse populations.
• CPR certification and Oceans-approved de-escalation training required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care activities under supervision of licensed nursing staff.
• Perform vital signs, weights, ADL, intake/output documentation and nutritional monitoring.
• Document observations accurately in the patient record and communicate findings to the nurse.
• Ensure safety and order by applying de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Complete required unit safety checks and assist with meals and mobility.
