Job summary

The Observational Sitter at Mercy Hospital Springfield, part of Towne Park LLC, provides non-clinical bedside observation and support for assigned patients under nursing direction.

No nursing duties are performed; the sitter reads to patients, answers calls, and assists with basic tasks while ensuring safety and privacy. Shifts are 8- or 12-hour, with eligibility for benefits for full-time staff and opportunities for weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• At least 1 month of experience with patients or in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Observe assigned patient at bedside and report to nursing staff.
• Provide non-clinical support such as reading to patients and answering calls.
• Maintain patient safety and confidentiality at all times.
