Job summary

City of Midland, Texas is seeking an Animal Shelter Technician to care for the pets and wildlife brought to the shelter. You will assist with daily animal care, sanitation, microchip screening, and supporting cremation services to ensure the health and dignity of animals in our care.

As a team member, you’ll interact with the public, animal control, rescue groups, and other organizations to make a positive impact in our community. Dependability and compassion are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle animals with compassion and care.
• Ability to interact with the public and coordinate with staff.
• Must be able to operate a vehicle to transport items.
• Ability to perform sanitation and daily kennel maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Process animals brought to the shelter with health checks and microchip scanning.
• Maintain kennel areas, cat facilities, quarantine and animal rooms.
• Assist in euthanasia and cremation services as required.
• Operate cremation system for mass and private cremations.
• Assist visitors and respond to inquiries.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and facilities.
