Job summary

City of Midland, Texas is seeking a Lead Animal Care Specialist to oversee daily animal care operations, supervise a team, and ensure humane handling. The role supports staff training, accountability, and smooth workflow across animal care functions in the shelter.

You will work under the Animal Shelter Supervisor, maintain safety, coordinate care, and engage with the public to promote adoptions and responsible pet ownership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required.
• Certifications: Basic Animal Control Officer and Euthanasia within 6 months.
• Ability to interact with the public and provide humane care.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to animals.
• Supervise and support a team of Animal Care Specialists.
• Oversee intake exams, vaccination protocols, and medical documentation.
