Job summary

The Fargo VA Health Care System is seeking an Acute Care Nursing Assistant to provide direct, hands-on care for Veterans with complex medical needs. You will assist with daily activities, monitor clinical changes, perform delegated procedures, transport patients, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment on fast-paced inpatient units.

This role requires basic requirements including U.S. citizenship, English proficiency, and healthcare-related experience or education.

Qualifications

Citizenship and English language proficiency required.
Six months general experience OR one year education above high school with NA-related courses.
Completion of an intensive NA training program meets experience requirements.
GS-3 to GS-5 level determined by qualifications and experience.
Ability to work under supervision in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with activities of daily living and transfers for acutely and chronically ill Veterans.
Observe and report changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
Perform delegated nursing procedures and collect vital signs and specimens.
Provide 1:1 sitter coverage and support behavioral safety as needed.
Transport patients to tests and procedures and manage oxygen as required.
