Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is hiring a Companion Caregiver to provide services to patients/clients in their places of residence in Fremont, CA. This role emphasizes compassionate, non-medical support, social interaction, and safety in the home.

You will assist with daily activities, encourage light exercise, and help with reminders for medications, while maintaining client dignity and privacy in a professional manner.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and able to perform tasks professionally.
• One year of Companion Care experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with clients and supervisors.
• Compassionate, patient and able to maintain boundaries.
• Good English language skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to follow policies and preserve client safety.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-off care such as socialization and encouraging mild exercise.
• Reminds clients to take medications on time and supports medication adherence.
• Safeguards client safety during bathing, toileting and dressing.
• Assists with grocery shopping and light housekeeping tasks.
• Arrives on time and completes shift duties accurately and promptly.
• Follows infection control procedures and universal precautions.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or necessary.

Hourly Pay: $20.34 - $21.50

Responsibilities

• Provides "hands off" care such as:
  • Providing and encouraging socialization
  • Encouraging a mild exercise program
  • Encouraging medication compliance through timely reminders to take medications
  • Supervising the safety of the patient/client when bathing, toileting, and dressing
  • Assisting with grocery-shopping; and performing light housekeeping chores
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
• Arrives at the client's home on time and leaves when shift schedule is complete
• Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner
• Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• One (1) year of experience as a Companion Care Homemaker/Companion Care Provider preferred
• Ability to carry out tasks in a professional manner and adhere to policies regarding professionalism and boundaries preferred
• Must demonstrate a compassionate nature and possess strong interpersonal skills preferred
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills preferred
• Proficiency in the English language is required
• Computer proficiency required
