Job summary

RTS is seeking qualified Bus Operators to drive 40-foot public transit vehicles across Monroe County. You will adhere to published timetables, ensure safety, and deliver excellent customer service to riders heading to work, school, and appointments.

The role requires strong driving experience, the ability to work flexible hours, and completion of paid training. Training start dates are provided, with full- and part-time opportunities available.

Qualifications

• No more than 5 points on your driver's license.
• Minimum five years of Class D auto driving experience.
• If not licensed, must obtain Class B permit with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction before start.
• Must obtain Class B license with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.
• Attend 8–10 weeks of paid training, Monday–Friday, ~30–35 hours per week.
• Work flexible hours and split shifts; seniority-based scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 40-foot transit vehicle on designated routes in Monroe County.
• Follow published timetables for assigned routes.
• Provide excellent customer service and clear communication with passengers.
• Maintain professionalism with a diverse passenger population, including in stressful interactions.
• Work flexible hours and split shifts; schedule determined by seniority.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
