Job summary

The City of Burlington seeks a Community Support Liaison to coordinate social-work services across agencies, focusing on homelessness, substance-use disorder, mental health, and other needs within the Police Department.

The position follows a flexible 2nd shift: four days on, three off, 10-hour shifts, with start times between 10 am and 12 pm, and reports to the Community Support Supervisor in close collaboration with the Deputy Chief of Operations.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work or related field plus two years of experience.
• Or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field with three years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work outside of typical business hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Engage individuals with substance use disorder and assist access to treatment.
• Respond to non-criminal intervention requests from police, other City departments, and community members.
• Coordinate services with Burlington social-service providers for comprehensive care.
• Develop and maintain partnerships for coordinated interventions to address quality-of-life issues.
• Prepare for and attend strategy meetings to assess tactic effectiveness.
• Create and maintain up-to-date electronic records for all case interventions.
• Act as a liaison between the community and the Police Department to foster dialogue and transparency.
• Lead trainings on conflict resolution and restorative practices with community partners.
