Howard Center seeks a Street Outreach Team member to respond to real-time crisis calls in Burlington, VT, collaborating with police, fire departments, and crisis services. The role includes deescalation, triage, and outreach to connect individuals to services, with required evening/weekend availability and outdoor work in all weather.
Responsibilities include on-site triage, interim case management, and coordination with community providers.
Help vulnerable populations and the City of Burlington respond to the challenge of meeting growing social service needs in the community. Join the Howard Center Street Outreach Team and work collaboratively with the Burlington Police Department, the Burlington Fire Department, Howard Center’s Crisis Services and area service providers to respond to real-time calls for service to emergent situations. Response to these calls can may include deescalation, triage, immediate support, and coordination of other crisis services. In your “down time” you will be reaching out to individuals who frequent the downtown core to provide support and connect them to services, as appropriate. Some interim case management duties and follow up required, dependent on the context and situation. This job takes place in a variety of settings in the community: the streets, parks, the police department, UVMMC, private homes, etc.
