Job summary

Home of Guiding Hands is seeking a Community Support Professional to work with adults with developmental disabilities in San Diego County. This part-time, on-site role involves providing individualized support, helping individuals build life skills, participate in community activities, and pursue personal goals.

You'll spend time in clients' homes and community settings, planning visits, advocating for ISP goals, and documenting progress while promoting independence and meaningful engagement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience supporting individuals with special needs is preferred, but not required.
• Personal, volunteer, or paid experience is welcome.
• Ability to pass a DOJ background check.
• California driver’s license with a safe driving record and at least two years of driving experience.
• Safe and reliable vehicle for transporting clients.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it. Training is available for new hires.
• Comfortable using email, text messaging, websites, and apps.
• Able to work independently and manage your schedule.
• Reliable with good judgment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct visits with assigned clients
• Help individuals access and participate in their community
• Support clients in working toward their ISP goals
• Work with clients to develop meaningful personal goals
• Advocate for the individuals you support
• Attend and participate in ISP meetings
• Communicate with family members and other members of the individual's support team
• Complete required documentation and reports
• Encourage independence, choice, and community involvement
