Delaware Opportunities Inc. seeks a Project Assistant for the Community Services department. The role supports staff, manages data entry, reports, and communications to help low-income individuals access resources and services.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and with staff and partners to advance program goals. Full-time position in Delaware County, NY with diverse duties.

Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit, human services, or program administration preferred.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with staff timesheets, expense logs, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly Community Services Board reports.
  • Serve as liaison to Community Services staff.
  • Review staff timesheets and expense logs.
  • Assist with program audits, monitoring reviews, and compliance activities.
  • Support CSBG reporting and CSBG programming administration.
  • Be the agency point person for CAPTAIN and intake processes.
  • Train staff, answer questions, and update intake forms and procedures.
  • Assist with agency communications including newsletters and press releases.
  • Serve as Board Chair for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
  • Coordinate food, dairy, and other community distributions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Delaware Opportunities Inc. is seeking a Project Assistant for our Community Services department to join a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families throughout Delaware County and surrounding communities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, enjoys supporting staff, has strong technical, data entry, and communication skills, and is committed to supporting staff and low-income individuals and families in accessing resources and services. Experience in nonprofit, human services, community action, or program administration is preferred.

Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
  • Assisting with monthly Community Services Board reports;
  • Serving as a liaison to Community Services staff;
  • Assisting with review of staff timesheets and expense logs;
  • Assisting with program audits, monitoring reviews, and compliance activities;
  • Assisting with CSBG reporting and requirements;
  • Supporting the administration of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) programming;
  • Serving as the agency point person for CAPTAIN;
  • Serving as the agency point person for intake processes, including training staff, answering questions, and updating forms and procedures;
  • Assisting with agency communications, including newsletters and press releases;
  • Serving as Board Chair for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program;
  • Assisting with coordination of food, dairy, and other community distributions;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, community partners, and stakeholders;
  • Experience preparing reports, maintaining records, and supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of two (2) years of administrative, program support, nonprofit, or community services experience, and/or
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or related field;
  • Project coordination experience preferred;
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Schedule & Pay:
  • Full-time, Monday - Friday
  • 35 hours per week
