Job summary

The City of Laredo is seeking a Community Service Officer to support police operations in a non-sworn capacity, performing enforcement and non-enforcement duties as allowed by City ordinance.

The role emphasizes ordinance enforcement, traffic-related duties, and public safety education. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential; bilingual English/Spanish abilities are valued. A valid Texas driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. optional coursework in Criminal Justice.
• At least one year of experience with public contact and enforcement of regulatory policies.
• Applicants must submit to background checks and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Augment police operations in enforcement of ordinance violations, including right-of-way traffic laws.
• Respond to service calls for traffic safety hazards and traffic accidents on private property.
• Attend public events to educate on city ordinances and provide security surveys.
• Testify in Municipal Court as required.
• Drive City vehicle for City business.
