Job summary

Strongsville Police Department is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to join our public safety team. You will patrol the community, respond to calls for service, and enforce state and local laws while upholding the rights of citizens.

The ideal candidate will have firearms and defensive tactics training, strong communication and report-writing skills, and the ability to testify in court. A degree or four years of active duty service are required per the city’s prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Must have U.S. citizenship.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Successful completion of physical agility test.
• Background, polygraph, psychological, medical and drug screenings required.
• Must meet one of the following: 4-year Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of active duty with U.S. armed forces.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the community to deter and detect criminal activity.
• Respond to calls for service.
• Document allegations of a crime; protect persons and property; advise on prevention.
• Perform investigations (traffic and criminal).
• Interview witnesses and victims; collect evidence.
• Enforce traffic laws and issue citations or warnings.
• Enforce criminal laws; make arrests or dispositions.
• Testify in court.
• Handle prisoners, including booking and transport.
• Direct traffic at scenes and events.
• Promote crime prevention and community relations.
