Job summary

City and County of Honolulu seeks a Community Relations Specialist II to support the Parks and Recreation Department's community engagement program, including public education and outreach, liaison work with city and external agencies, and dissemination of information across media.

The role covers planning, event coordination, staff training, and administrative duties to boost participation and awareness across Oahu. After-hours and disaster response duties are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of responsible experience in community or public service.
• Education: graduation from a four-year college or university or substitution allowed.
• Education verification: attach diploma or transcripts if available.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work and work under stressful conditions.

Responsibilities

• Outreach to the public, schools and community groups to increase participation in community engagement programs.
• Assist with planning and implementing the division's community engagement program and associated events.
• Attend workshops and meetings with community groups; travel island-wide for trainings and conferences.
• Prepare reports on program statistics as needed.
