Job summary

Franklin County Government is seeking a part-time Recreation Program Specialist to design, coordinate, and lead recreational activities, sports leagues, and events for residents of all ages in Franklin County, NC. This role emphasizes flexible hours, on-site supervision, and public interaction.

The ideal candidate will help set up programs, manage equipment, and ensure safety and order at facilities while engaging with the community.

Qualifications

• Experience reading, writing, and following instructions.
• Experience working with children in a recreation setting preferred; or an equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee athletic program activities, including youth and adult leagues, special events, tournaments, and camps.
• Set up equipment and provide on-site oversight of participants.
• Perform routine administrative tasks in support of recreation programs.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment; assist with restrooms and litter control.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
• Help maintain order and compliance with program rules; set up gyms/fields for league play.
• Observe activities, report hazards or incidents to the Director and emergency personnel as needed.
• May serve as scorekeeper or official for games.
