Job summary

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic’s Liberty program in Chesapeake, VA seeks a customer‑focused Recreation program assistant to support daily operations and events across MWR facilities.

You will handle registrations, rentals, inventory, and guest services, helping plan and promote activities while ensuring safety and adherence to Navy policies.

Collaborate with staff to recruit volunteers and support outreach to maximize community engagement and program attendance.

Qualifications

• Combination of experience in customer service and recreation activity-based functions.
• Ability to organize, plan and administer special events and entertainment activities.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service and information for Community Recreation programs and activities.
• Processes tickets, rentals and classes using POS and computer programs.
• Maintains daily sales records and DAR reports after each shift.
• Assists with registrations and event registrations (Net Near You).
• Checks in/out equipment and collects rental fees; maintains inventory.
• Performs administrative duties using computer software to track inventories and metrics.
• Assists with recruitment, training and scheduling of staff.
• Promotes MWR facilities and events through outreach and library resources.
• Supports setup and breakdown of events and activities.
