The Salvation Army Denver Red Shield is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to develop, coordinate, and evaluate sports, recreation, and wellness programs for the Whittier neighborhood and surrounding communities in Denver. This role focuses on inclusive, high-quality athletic and enrichment opportunities for youth and adults, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, Physical Education, or related field.
• Two years of experience in recreational programming with leadership/supervisory roles.
• Experience working with diverse urban communities, preferably in Denver.

Responsabilités

• Plan, implement, and oversee sports leagues, events, and open gyms.
• Deliver Christ-centered programming with opportunities for daily prayer and devotions.
• Supervise staff, coaches, referees, and volunteers, ensuring safe program delivery.
• Maintain registrations, schedules, and participation records.
• Ensure safety, risk management, and adherence to policies.
• Oversee facilities, equipment, and maintenance; manage inventories and budgets.
• Build partnerships with schools and community groups to expand outreach.

Formation

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education

Two years of experience in recreational programming

Experience with diverse urban communities

MS Office proficiency

Computer literacy

Self-starter

Team player

Bilingual English and Spanish (preferred)

First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or able to obtain in 90 days)
