Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking a Recreation Specialist to develop and implement recreational programs for residents, including sports, fitness, and arts, to promote healthy living and positive self-development.

You will collaborate with the Youth Development team, plan community events, coordinate schedules, provide safe transportation, attend required trainings, and uphold the Sanctuary Model and ACS guidelines in daily practice.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma; associates or bachelor’s degree plus two years' experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with self-initiative.
  • Available for some evenings and weekends.
  • Must complete de-escalation and physical intervention training.
  • Capable of sustained physical exertion and assist with interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and conduct recreational programming in sports, fitness, performing arts, life skills, promoting healthy living.
  • Collaborate with Youth Development staff to help residents develop life skills and positive relationships.
  • Arrange events and manage calendar; document activities per program requirements.
  • Provide safe transportation for residents on trips within the City and locality.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and adhere to ACS regulations.
  • Work hours 12 pm–8 pm; cover weekends when trips planned.
  • Support Sanctuary Model and Missouri Approach.
