Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory in Manchester, NH seeks an Athletic Coordinator to lead youth athletic and recreational programs in Kids’ Café and Teen Night. You’ll organize daily activities, mentor participants, and promote teamwork and inclusivity.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma with youth program experience; degrees in PE or recreation are a plus, and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications are preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma.
• Experience with children in athletic or youth development settings, and coaching youth sports.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or Recreation preferred.
• Knowledge of youth sports, recreational programming, and child development.
• Ability to motivate children from diverse backgrounds and manage energetic groups.
• Strong conflict resolution and communication skills with children, parents, volunteers, and staff.
• Valid driver’s license; CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead daily athletic and recreational activities for participants of varying skill levels.
• Develop seasonal sports leagues, tournaments, fitness challenges, and special events.
• Supervise participants, enforce safety rules, and maintain appropriate staff to child ratios.
• Respond to emergencies and accidents, and complete incident reports promptly.
• Inspect the gymnasium, outdoor areas, and equipment, and maintain the athletic supply inventory.
• Serve as a mentor who promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, inclusion, and respect.
• Assist with special events, field trips, and the Senior’s Lunchtime Program.
• Maintain attendance records, activity schedules, and lesson plans.
