Job summary

Peoria Park District is seeking an Community Recreation Intern at Noble Administration Center, Peoria, IL. The intern will assist with programs, events, and activities under supervision, helping coordinate logistics for Power Lunches, community fairs, and other initiatives.

The role requires current enrollment as a high school or undergraduate student, minimum age 16, and ability to work nights, weekends and events.

Qualifications

  • Grant-funded position; up to 15–20 hours per week depending on student level.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends and events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with programs, events, and activities as assigned.

  • Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and safety procedures.
  • Participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities.
  • Support interns in signature Peoria Park District events.

Job description

Job Details Job Location: NOBLE ADMINISTRATION CENTER - PEORIA, IL 61614 Position Type: Internship Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 Hourly


Duties: Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Community Connections, the Community Recreation Intern is responsible for the following:



  • Serve as a member of the PPD recreation team and assist with programs, events, and activities, as assigned.

  • Work with the coordination, execution, logistics, and hosting of activities associated with assigned programs, such as Power Lunches, community resource fairs, and other initiatives.

  • Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.

  • As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.

  • All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.

  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District's safety program.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:


Prolong standing, bending and stooping.


Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.


Education: Status as a current high school or college undergrad student (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026). Must be at least 16 years old. This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.


Knowledge and Ability:



  • Ability to work flexible hours, specifically nights, weekends, and events.

  • Ability to work well with children and fellow staff members at events and programs.

  • Candidates should be highly energetic, approachable, punctual, enthusiastic, well-organized, flexible, and outgoing.

  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
