Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with communities and representatives; attends meetings; develops outreach plans; manages Residential Recycling Incentive, household hazardous waste and tire amnesty programs and other community projects.
  • Provides technical support, records, and documentation to communities/businesses; assists in bid specs, grants; reviews program effectiveness and updates district plan; collects data and shares information via webinars, newsletters and toolkits.
  • Under general supervision help manage the container loan program; supports staff; assists with events and grants; collaborates with community groups on environmental programs.
  • Attends promotional events and fielding inquiries; completes special projects; evaluates program effectiveness and prepares reports; monitors relevant publications and trends.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Other duties as assigned.

As the Solid Waste Program Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination and implementation of solid waste management programs and initiatives within the organization. This position provides an opportunity for professional growth and development in the field of waste management. The Solid Waste Program Coordinator assists with program planning, data analysis, community outreach, and administrative tasks to contribute to the successful implementation of waste reduction, recycling, and disposal strategies.

Summary of Job Duties
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with various communities (e.g. cities, villages, townships, etc.) or business and institutional representatives to provide technical assistance, identity needs, and develop solutions; attends related council, commissioner, business, and/or committee meetings; prepares and gives presentations. Identify, and under general supervision select target communities; work with community and with assistance develop and implement outreach plans. Manage the Residential Recycling Incentive program, community household hazardous waste programs, community tire amnesty program, and other special projects related to communities.
  • Provides technical support, records, and documentation to communities and /or businesses; assists in the preparation of bid specifications, grant requests, etc.; meets with community representatives to review and evaluate the effectiveness of applicable programs and prepares revisions for the district plan as necessary. Gathers and analyzes information regarding community and residential waste reduction programs from various sources (e.g., seminars, workshops, newsletters, statistical reports, etc.); shares information with the target audience (e.g., hosts informational webinars and presentations, prepares newsletter articles, develop community toolkit).
  • Under general supervision help manage the container loan program (i.e., work with the Office of Media and Engagement to advertise program, act as contact for interested organizations, make recommendations for improvement). Work collaboratively and provide support to other staff; assist with special projects and programs; Assists community groups and organizations with implementation of related environmental programs at events and public spaces; provides assistance for grant programs.
  • Attends promotional events (e.g., works in display booth as necessary); answers public inquiries and necessary follow up; completes special projects as assigned. Work collaboratively and provide support to other staff; assist with special projects and programs; evaluate program effectiveness and create reports; attends promotional events (e.g., works in display booth as necessary); attends relevant meetings and seminars; monitors publications on relevant issues; other duties as assigned.
