Job summary

Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in Michigan is seeking a prevention-focused professional to deliver culturally sensitive education on substance abuse and healthy behaviors within tribal communities, schools, and partner sites.

Under supervision of the Prevention Coordinator, you will plan and evaluate programs, provide referrals for counseling, and ensure HIPAA compliance while maintaining confidentiality and delivering high-quality outreach and services.

Qualifications

• Associate`s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
• Experience with Native American traditions and cultural processes.
• Experience collaborating across multiple organizations and community systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Behavioral Health Prevention Team to plan effective prevention strategies.
• Evaluate prevention programming through surveys, focus groups, and culturally appropriate processes.
• Provide information and education to the community through articles, booths or outreach.
• Represent the team by collaborating with other agencies and tribal departments on prevention activities.
• Provide referral services for individuals needing substance abuse or mental health counseling.
• Complete monthly activity logs and attend meetings/trainings to upgrade knowledge.
• Adhere to confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers.
• Work independently and meet deadlines while maintaining professional demeanor.
