Gila County Community College is seeking a Planner/Zoning Coordinator to support the Community Development Director on planning and zoning projects, helping implement the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance, and serving as staff planner to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments.

The role analyzes and recommends development applications, stays current with state statutes and county regulations, and assists in meetings, reports, and public outreach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with additional specialized or technical training courses in Planning or a related field.
• Three (3) years’ experience in Planning with Local Government; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsabilités

• Assists in the implementation of complex planning and zoning projects. Handles applications for development plans, zoning changes, variances, uses, temporary and conditional use permits, subdivisions, special districts and reviews minor land divisions for zoning compliance.
• Prepares for and attends pre-application meetings, schedules hearings, maintains records of public input and presentation actions, and prepares public hearing notices, agendas and minutes.
• Ensures all State Statutes and County regulations are followed regarding correspondence, timelines, and notices.
• Assists in updating the Comprehensive Land Use Plan using input from internal and external sources.
• Develops office procedures and forms; ensures compliance with policies and County ordinances.
• Drafts ordinances, policy statements and consults with County Attorney for statutory compliance.
• Maintains effective working relationships with citizens and other departments; educates public on property uses.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
