Maricopa County's Planning and Development Department is seeking a qualified Planner to manage current and long-range planning projects, including rezoning cases, special use permits, and variances. You will coordinate with County and external agencies, conduct research and prepare staff reports with recommendations for compliance with the comprehensive plan and zoning standards.

The role emphasizes presentation skills, public engagement, and the ability to handle specialized studies.

Formación

• Two years of planning-related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture, or a related field.
• Postgraduate degrees or professional-level-related experience may substitute for education or experience on a year-for-year basis

Responsabilidades

• Manage rezoning cases, special use permits, and comprehensive planning cases.
• Coordinate between County agencies and external agencies on reviews/comments.
• Perform research, plan review, analysis, and staff report recommendations.
• Present evaluation and recommendations to Planning & Zoning Commission or Board of Adjustment.
• Serve as liaison to the public and development community for planning applications and complex projects.
• Conduct specialized studies and projects; exercise independent judgment and problem solving.

Educación

Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture, or a related field
