Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Associate to join our team in Ann Arbor. You will perform prescription entry and fulfillment, assist with preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounds, and help resolve access barriers to medications.

You will interact with patients, families and the health care team to ensure safe and efficient pharmaceutical care. The role requires a high school diploma, a Michigan Pharmacy Technician license (or eligibility), and the ability to obtain

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Michigan Pharmacy Technician license or eligible for one.
• Must obtain full license before temporary license expires.
• Strong communication and basic math skills are required.
• Primary source verification is required.

Responsibilities

• Gather prescription insurance coverage information.
• Perform prescription order entry and fulfillment.
• Perform basic metric conversions and calculations.
• Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds.
• Greet patients and answer phones.
• Provide bedside delivery of discharge prescriptions.
• Assist with resolution of medication access barriers.
• Collaborate with nursing, social work, providers, pharmacists and others to optimize patient care.
• Assist with problem solving and process improvements within the pharmacy.
• Assist with training and oversight of staff and learners (pharmacy students, residents and interns).
• Must exhibit good communication skills with patients and families and adapt to diverse environments.
• Exhibit attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor to facilitate patient care.
