Location: Houghton Lake and Roscommon Pharmacy - Outpatient/Retail

Summary: Following training, the Pharmacy Technician will process prescriptions, use the cash register, fill prescriptions, answer phones, and manage medication ordering and receiving.

Responsibilities:

1. Filling prescriptions (40%): Prepare new and refill prescriptions, calculate supply and doses, determine 340b eligibility, and collaborate with healthcare providers.
2. Inventory management (20%): Restock medications, conduct inventory counts, and make purchasing decisions based on par levels and needs.
3. Customer service (20%): Greet customers, process co-payments, and assist with questions about prescriptions and payments.
4. OTC area maintenance (20%): Manage over-the-counter products, including stocking, pricing, and checking for outdates.

Certifications and Licenses:

• Pharmacy Technician License (full or limited as per Michigan state requirements). Temporary licenses must be upgraded within 365 days.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Duties: Answer phones, request refills, compound medications if ordered, order supplies, assist with billing questions, and other tasks as assigned.

Experience and Skills: Computer proficiency, good math and organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and excellent communication skills. Preferred experience in hospital or retail pharmacy.

Physical/Mental Requirements: Ability to handle stressful situations, wear protective equipment, move freely, and perform physical tasks including lifting. The physical demand level is light.
