Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Community Paramedic to provide primary care and education in patients' homes. You will assess, stabilize, and arrange transport for acutely ill patients while coordinating with physicians and the Community Paramedic Medical Control Physician.

The role requires EMT-P certification (preferred) and ACLS (preferred), with a valid driver's license. Prior CCEMTP and EMS experience are valued as is the ability to work under pressure in a home-care setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a Paramedic program (certificate or associate's degree) required.
• CCEMTP experience preferred.
• EMT-P certification preferred; ACLS preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• One year of CCEMTP experience preferred; three years EMT-P experience required.

Responsibilities

• Examin es, screens, treats, and coordinates health services for patients.
• Conducts post-hospital follow-up care including medication, dressing changes, and vital signs.
• Observes, records, and reports patient conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to the physician.
• Delivers patient education on diabetes, hypertension, CHF, COPD, falls prevention, nutrition.
• Administers patient care per department protocols and physician orders.
• Coordinates appointments and follow-up with physicians and hospitals.
• Develops reports and templates for the Community Paramedic Program.
