Job summary

City of Bloomington seeks an EMT-level clinician to deliver essential emergency medical care, perform patient assessments, coordinate with ED and care management teams, and help enroll patients in social services as needed.

This role supports the Mobile Integrated Health Program (MIHP) and works with Monroe County health and human service providers to deliver care outside hospital settings, improving continuity of care and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in emergency medicine, healthcare, public health, social work, or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position.
• Must possess a current National Registry or Indiana State EMT certification and CPR certification.
• Additional preference for mental health first aid or professional EMS certifications above EMT or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• One-year experience as an EMT, public health, EMS, health screenings, case worker, social worker, or other health-related field.
• Preference for prior experience with community paramedicine or MIH.
• Formal training in public health, social work, or State-required 40-hour MIH training.
• Must have or obtain a valid Indiana driver’s license with emergency vehicle operation training within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides emergency medical care at EMT level including patient assessments, post-acute follow-up, treatment compliance, and vaccinations as allowed by medical control.
• Contacts and helps patients enroll in various social service programs to close gaps in care.
• Schedules and visits patients to complete social ecological assessments and follow-ups.
• Responds to low-acuity/non-emergent requests as needed.
• Coordinates with ED staff, Care Management teams, and other emergency service providers.
• Analyzes historic emergency calls to identify patients needing outreach.
• Completes required training and documents findings as requested.
• Evaluates program effectiveness and recommends improvements.
