Job summary

Gift of Hope in Peoria, IL is seeking a Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist to build and sustain partnerships with community organizations, schools and faith-based groups to promote organ and tissue donation and increase registration.

The role emphasizes Spanish/English bilingual communication, event planning, and public outreach across neighborhoods, with a focus on engaging volunteers, coordinating programs, and reporting activities in Salesforce.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in community relations, business, marketing, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in community relations or not-for-profit public relations, preferably in healthcare.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Experience coordinating events and programs with community partners.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain community-based partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Advance Gift of Hope’s mission, vision and core values and adhere to policies.
  • Identify, develop and maintain partnerships to increase awareness and donation registration.
  • Develop and implement community programs and events with Ambassadors for Hope.
  • Complete a minimum of ten community engagements per month.
  • Lead a volunteer chapter and coordinate community outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with Donation Coordinators to plan hospital outreach programs.
  • Contribute to newsletters and social media content and enter activities in Salesforce.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary

At Gift of Hope, we're dedicated to saving and enhancing as many lives as possible through organ and tissue donation. Join our mission as a Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist! In this role, you will work collaboratively establishing, maintaining, and creating partnerships with key community stakeholders within the Gift of Hope donor service area to include educational, religious, civic and social organizations to increase organ and tissue donation, registration, and education.

Compensation range for this position is $64,335- $72,337 annually

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

    respects the dignity and worth of each individual.Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

  • Bilingual fluency in both Spanish and English is strongly preferred
  • Identify, develop and maintain partnerships with select community, educational, religious, hospital, civic and social service organizations to increase awareness of, and support for, organ and tissue donation to increase registration

  • Develop and implement programs/projects and special events to increase overall public awareness and increase donation registration rates in the communities we serve; foster participation by Ambassadors for Hope volunteers and Gift of Hope staff

  • Complete a minimum of ten (10) community engagements per month
  • Develop one (1) signature event per year
  • In conjunction with Volunteer Coordinator, lead a volunteer chapter within assigned targeted communities and coordinate their efforts to promote organ and tissue donation; encourage attendance/support of community-based programs and Gift of Hope sponsored programs and support marketing and communication opportunities

  • Works collaboratively with Donation Coordinators and Donation Liaisons to develop hospital community outreach programs for signature events and participate in donation committees

  • Contribute to monthly newsletters, social media platforms and website, focusing content as it relates to area of expertise; assist in maintaining information on Gift of Hope websites

  • Use Salesforce platform to enter all community outreach activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Experience and Skills Required

  • 3 years’ experience in community relations or not-for-profit public relations, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Bilingual flluency in Spanish and English preferred
  • Experience coordinating events and programs with community partners
  • Experience developing and executing community-based programs and events
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain community-based partnerships
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to influence support for organ and tissue donation
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
