Job summary

Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) seeks a Community Engagement and Education Coordinator for its Baltimore, MD office to drive outreach, education, and partnerships with communities across Maryland. You will build relationships with local organizations, plan multi-site events, and coordinate volunteers to advance healthy housing, asthma prevention and lead poisoning initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration with MDH and state agencies, delivering trainings, and managing data reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Communications/Marketing, Social Work, Health, or relevant field
• 2+ years of experience in outreach and education working with diverse communities including low-income communities of color
• Cultural competency and strong interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues, clients and program partners of all demographic and professional levels
• Experience in Environmental Health, Healthy Homes, Child Advocacy, or Public Health
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a concise and understandable manner including strong presentation and training skills
• Experience in grassroots advocacy and organizing efforts
• Ability to work nights or weekends as required
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
• Flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit
• Ability to competently handle and coordinate multiple projects and competing priorities
• Willingness to travel for meetings and events
• Valid driver license and reliable automobile with state required insurance for job duties including travel to in-person outreach events, presentations and meetings

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and education events, presentations and trainings to advance mission and meet all related outreach program grant and contract requirements including deliverables, reporting and data collection
• Assist with the implementation of plans for all major outreach events
• Plan and organize outreach events in priority target areas such as Baltimore City and County, Prince George’s County and across Maryland
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including state agency officials, statewide partners, local health departments, health care partners, and community organizations
• Develop new community and stakeholder partners to expand GHHI’s networks statewide
• Coordinate with outreach and program staff to cover all outreach events, trainings and deliverables
• Recruit, train and utilize external outreach event volunteers as part of a volunteer program
• Participate in internal outreach program meetings and MDH/state grant meetings
• Organize, attend in-person outreach events, trainings and meetings with parents, agencies, partners and community groups on lead poisoning, asthma and climate/energy awareness
