Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) is seeking an Outreach Specialist to promote our program, support crisis intervention, and coordinate case management, housing referrals, and benefits services for clients and families. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to connect homeless and at-risk individuals to essential resources.

The role requires on-site work, community outreach, initial assessments, crisis stabilization, and collaboration with housing partners to secure permanent

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• Ability to perform under emotional stress when dealing with challenging clients.
• Two years’ experience working with Justice Involved Populations, people in recovery and/or homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Provides street outreach, engagement, crisis stabilization, trauma-informed case management, and referrals.
• Conducts initial street screenings and crisis stabilization.
• Assists with housing placement and coordination of services with case management team.
• Collects data and maintains comprehensive client records and HMIS entries.
• Leads community outreach and represents VOALA in housing-related meetings and partnerships.
• Delivers life skills workshops and provides crisis intervention when needed.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related discipline

Equivalent combination of education and work experience (four years)
